How to Beat the Summer Heat in Houston

by Mary on May 26th, 2018

Sure, it’s summertime. But there are plenty of options for beating the heat in Houston, even during the dog days of summer.

Cool Off with Some Culture

Enjoy the fine arts, some history, or the entire universe in air conditioned comfort at one of Houston’s many museums. Admission is always free at these museums. Visit HouMuse.org for a list of museums that are free on specific days of the week. If you go to the Houston Museum of Natural History, be sure to see the Planetarium.

Splash Down at a Water Park

Take the family or go it alone, but don’t miss the water amusement park experience this summer. Houston offers several popular water-ful destinations – both natural and manmade – from the Pirate’s Bay to Wet ‘n’ Wild SplashTown to Typhoon Texas and many more.

Have a One-Stop Shopping Day

Head to one of the many shopping malls in Houston.  You have all kinds to choose from: low-cost outlets to high-end designer shops. Stop for a bite at the food court or in one of the restaurants. Enjoy a cool drink or a creamy iced latte.

Go to a Matinee

Escape the heat at a local movie theater. Star Cinema Grill in Conroe offers dining, with food and bar drinks brought right to your seat.  Studio Movie Grill also features in-theater dining as well as reserved seating. Hungry for more? CultureMap Houston will help you find theaters with great amenities.
